Wow, So much I never knew about Babies.

You might have everything ready for your new baby, you have clothes, plenty of toys and you may have the nursery furniture picked, however when you're baby arrives you will be in for some very amazing surprises. Below is a list of amazing stuff that you didn't understand about babies, and you will be impressed at just how special your little one actually is. Read on for more information.....

1) When a baby is first born, they is going to be tiny, and only weigh on average 6 - 8lbs, however it takes just 6 short months for ones baby to double in weight, which is huge!

2) Despite the fact that most babies are born with very poor vision, a baby is actually able to recognise their mother almost immediately.

3) When your baby is just 10 weeks old he/she will have already decided if they will be left or right handed.

4) Most babies are born with blue eyes, but after just a few short minutes the colour changes. So don't forget to take a quick peak, otherwise you'll miss this unique natural wonder.

5) The youngest of infants are able to communicate physically, well before they're able to verbally communicate. A growing number of mothers are choosing to teach babies as young as 2 months old simple sign language to better communicate with them.

6) Place your baby in a pool of water and you will realize that he/she is capable of hold their breath underwater. Being in the womb for so long, makes this possible and it is something that they can all naturally do.

7) When baby cries for the first time there won't be any tears. It is because you're baby is not able to produce real tears in the first around 8 weeks.

8) From birth until six months, babies can actually breathe and swallow at the very same time. This is a skill they lose at round the 6 month period.

9) When your baby learns how to start crawling, he/she will crawl on average 200 metres each day. So make sure you move the nursery furniture out of the way, and make some room.

10) Strangely, your little is born without kneecaps. They develop much later on in life. It's often between 2 and 6 years that they begin to fully develop.

So next time you're out shopping for your new babies nursery furniture, hitting an antenatal class or perhaps choosing the perfect toy for your new family member, spend some time and think about just how amazing babies actually are, and also the special moments you and your baby ones is going to be able to share together.

Glee is the cause of a fair few arguments in our house due to us only having 1 proper TV and 4 people all wanting to watch their own thing. There is a 50 50 split with my daughter and I wanting to watch it against my husband and son who don't. As you can imagine the arguments can actually get quite heated but us girls usually come out on top and get our way, much to my son's dismay.

For those that don't know, Glee is a tv show about a group of high school students who put on musical shows and all the hardship that comes with it. Against what most people who like it think (my daughter included), I don't actually like the music side of it. The characters and plot are enjoyable though, and that's the reason I watch it. If you haven't already, you should definitely check it out.

The Cutest Baby Walker

Even though I have no need for baby items, I still like to browse shops for their new products. The other day I found a lovely little walker shaped like a race car! Now I don't know if this is actually an original idea but it's the first time I've seen it and I think it's a great concept. If only it had been around when I had my boys, they would have loved it.

Welcome to my new blog. It is going to be my general blog but with a focus on babies and baby stuff. Now for a bit about me; my name is Emily, im 48 years old and have 3 children. Even though my kids have long since been babies I find myself still very interested in babies. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm obsessed, but I must admit it is borderline. I do have other interests however, I am currently teaching myself to paint and I like to take good care of my garden.
